When I was in Madras two weeks back, I was blemished by having to watch an Indhi movie. Then, my tirade against Bollywood must have become unbearable. I was instructed to be open-minded and all that.
Thamizh people who have lived in the North for a reasonable amount of time change in irreversible ways, several of them intimidating: hyperbolic praise for Mohammad Rafi, Thamizh conversations regularly punctuated by acha acha, etc. While a Northerner in Madras diligently complains about the heat, conservatism and the inability of the locals to speak Indhi?
The excessive tolerance of the Madras kaaran stems presumably from an inferiority complex and decades of Northern imperialism.
