Being

Saravana

There is always something or the other to buy at Saravana Stores and transport 8,500 miles across -- non-stick dosai pan, ilipachetty, spare gaskets/kundu/washers for the pressure cooker, kidikki, kaapi filter etc. The pilgrimage to Saravana is fraught with several catches which my able council of advisers negotiates with ease. For instance:

1. The ilipachetty with ear handles/pidi is easy to handle but has inaccessible areas that are hard to clean.
2. Men, if they must cook, should never spend too much on non-stick dosai pan. They tend to scrape off the Teflon coating in an year, anyway.
And some have problems with logistics in Iraq.

I can say with pride I have never transported any pathiram across the oceans. I always support the local economy.

Maha: It is still a mess. They haven't.

Sriram: Not even the pressure cooker?

crap! - i knew i should have waited for the pressure cooker - i just got a pressure cooker from walmart - though price wise it was similar to what sriram has shown - this seems to be a strange kind of animal. the gundu is actually fat - so it does not whistle but just wobbles and i have to rely on my small hawkins to scare my neighbours. there are 3 pressure release valves of which one is rubber and the other two are metal - somebody has to teach these people about weakest links!
